Stephanie Moulton-Peters was elected to the City Council in November, 2007. She served her third term as Mayor from 2017-2019, and her second term as Mayor from 2013-2014. She serves as the Mill Valley Council representative and Chair of the Transportation Authority of Marin Board of Directors, and as alternate City Council liaison to the Mill Valley School District Board of Trustees. Stephanie represents the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers on the Board of the Marin Transit District. She formerly served on the Boards of the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART), Executive Board of the League of California Cities, North Bay Division. 

A long time promoter of walking and bicycling as modes of transportation, Stephanie is the Chair of Mill Valley Safe Routes to School Task Force and has actively participated in the renovation of Mill Valley's historic Steps, Lanes, and Paths. Stephanie also promotes healthy living for all Mill Valley residents through her work with Mill Valley Aware Community Coalition to reduce teen substance abuse, and the Age Friendly Mill Valley initiative for Seniors. 

Prior to being elected to the City Council, Stephanie was President of the West Blithedale Canyon Neighborhood Association, served two terms as the Chair of the Mill Valley Emergency Preparedness Commission, and lead Division 6 of the Mill Valley Community Emergency Response Team. Stephanie also served as Co-Chair of the Mill Valley Middle School and Old Mill School Emergency Preparedness Committees. In 2005, she served on the City Municipal Service Tax Renewal Committee. 

Professionally, Stephanie has worked in the fields of environmental protection and sustainability, communications, and historic preservation.

Stephanie has been a Mill Valley resident for 25 years, enjoys hiking and cycling in Marin County, and lives with husband Roger and two sons, who attended Mill Valley public schools.
